The Vacation’s Over

So, we’re back from vacation in Utah, was a good trip, but went by way too fast. Was great seeing that side of the family, had been almost 3 years since we’d seen most of them. Didn’t do half of what we talked about doing, but that’s ok. Mostly we were there to see family and that’s what we did. The brother-in-law even spent quite a bit of time which kind of surprised me. Got some bad news while on the trip though. Our babysitter got a part-time job so won’t be able to keep watching the baby. So now I’m super stressed trying to figure out what we’re going to do. I have a week from today to figure something out. My husband is going to try to switch shifts at work, which would probably be our best option at this point. Then he would work 8pm-4am. Which would suck for him, but save us money and make him more with shift differential. Also it’d be nice having him home for dinner every night. He currently works 10am-8pm, so he’d actually get more time with the kids if he switched. So I’m praying that’s what works out for us. He had applied for an operator position a little while ago and didn’t get it, so now we’re wondering if this is why he didn’t get it. Things usually have a way of working out I guess.

I spent a couple of hours helping my older daughter clean their room today. Got rid of 5+ bags of trash and 2 bags of clothes, so made a bit of a dent in it. Still have a bit of rearranging to do, but at least she has some room to actually do something in there now. Before with how the crib was set up she barely had like 2 feet to play in, lol.

School starts in a week. In some ways I’m ready for it, simply because the kids are ready, they’re super bored at home and ready to see their friends again. But I’m going to miss having their help around the house. They’ve done awesome with their chores this summer so it will be a bummer for me to have to do the majority of the cleaning on my own again. Especially if my husband is trying to sleep. Can’t believe my son is an 8th grader this year, and my daughter is a 6th grader! One more year till high school, yikes!

Part of me has been toying with the idea of trying to move to Utah next summer. Probably wouldn’t work out, but it’s kind of fun to think about and research. I feel like I need to be at my job for at least a year before we even think about it, plus it would be good to have more money saved up, like from income tax or something. The biggest issue would be the kids. Don’t think it would go over real well with their dad, but yet they are old enough to decide for themselves who they want to live with. Of course it’s easy for me to say that when I’m 99% sure they’d pick me, lol.

Well, think I’ll head to bed, want to try to get up and go to the gym tomorrow. Now that vacation is over I need to try to get back in the habit of exercising and eating right, hopefully lose this extra weight I’ve been carrying around. Plus I’m on call at 3am so better try to get some sleep before then.
